Claim this site
Own, manage or plan a site in the Atlas, or hold its listing? Claim its record. Checking a claim is free in the academic phase. A person reads every claim; nothing you submit is published until then.
What claiming adds
- A chip on the record: "Claimed · your organisation (role) · checked date", with a visible line saying what checked means. Readers see who has told us they are connected to the site, and that a person checked.
- Inquiries routed to you: the record's "Reach the owner" button becomes "Contact the owner" (or broker, asset manager, city staff). Senders confirm their email address first; the message is then relayed to you with their address as reply-to, their stated interest in the subject line, and a copy in your dashboard.
- A dashboard at /dashboard/ with, per site: the claim's status and check method; which of 12 key facts the record holds (location, years opened, closed and retrofitted, acres, GLA, strategy, new use, status, developer, owner of record, a photo); page loads on the record for the last 30 days from the Atlas's own counter; inquiries; a form to suggest a correction with its source; photo upload; a button to record interest in a future listing; your dossier (JSON, Markdown, PDF early access); withdraw.
Not on the Atlas yet: occupancy, rent roll, asking price, NOI, zoning entitlements, foot traffic and comps. We say so rather than imply it. The Atlas is a research record, not a marketing channel; the page-load count on your dashboard is the only readership figure we have, and it is unaudited.
What we check, and what "checked" means
A person at the Atlas desk reads each claim and replies, usually within five working days. We look for a match between your email domain and a website the record already holds (owner of record, SEC filer, company site), at the proof URL, and at what you wrote. Where a brokerage domain is not on the record, a public listing or a page on the firm's own site is enough; we do not ask for listing agreements. We may ask for a recorded document or call a published number. The check is recorded with its method (domain match, page, document or callback), the reviewer, and a stored snapshot and hash of the evidence page; the method is shown beside the chip. It is not a title check and does not certify authority. Freemail addresses can be checked, but need a document or a callback. Checks lapse after a year unless renewed; we write before then. One chip per site: a second organisation claiming the same site is checked too, the existing claimant is told, and the desk decides which shows (two brokers on one site both get a callback first). Checking a claim is free in the academic phase.
What we never publish
- Your name, email address, note or proof URL. Only the organisation (or "Private owner"), the role, the check date and method appear on the record and in the open list.
- Corrections you suggest: they go into a review queue; a person applies them to the record, labelled Contributed with the source, or writes back. The page does not change until then.
- Photos you upload: held in a private bucket until a person checks them (image type, metadata stripped, near-duplicates flagged); then shown, credited to your organisation, labelled Contributed, with a takedown address.
- Messages sent to you through the record: relayed by email and shown only in your dashboard; kept for up to 24 months. Only counts per site, month and stated interest are kept longer.
What claiming does not do
It does not change or re-label the facts on the record: status is a sourced field you can contest through the correction form, and a dispute is shown beside the authors' value, never over it. It does not endorse a sale and does not make the Atlas a broker: we represent neither side and take no fee. Claims and contributed material are not reviewed or endorsed by the authors of the research this Atlas builds on. Listings and any fee are planned for after the academic phase, and only if the authors agree (pricing); recording interest creates no obligation on either side and lets the desk write to you once if listings open. You can withdraw a claim from the dashboard at any time. Personal data held to run this service (name, email, note, proof, messages) is used only for that purpose and would transfer with the service only to a successor bound by these same terms. It is never published and never sold on its own. Research use only; the licence is undecided (trust, terms, privacy).
